West Seaford Elementary School Home
There will be a Special Board Meeting on Monday, October 7, 2019 prior to the regularly scheduled Board Workshop for the purpose of holding interviews of candidates to fill the vacant board seat. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of Seaford Central Elementary School and will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. The regularly scheduled Board Workshop Meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the same location.
The Board of Education will be seeking to fill a vacancy due to the resignation of board member Michael Kraft. As per Delaware Code, the vacancy shall be filled by the remaining members of the school board for the remainder of the fiscal year, and a new member shall be elected at the next regular school board election to serve for the unexpired term. The seat to be filled will be upon completion of the appointment process through June 30, 2020. At the next school board election in May 2020, there will be two seats to fill - one for a five year term (July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2025) and one for a two year term (July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2022) Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019 Interested candidates may submit applications to: Office of the Superintendent Seaford School District 390 North Market Street Ext. Market St. Ext., Seaford, DE 19973 and on the District's website, www.seafordbluejays.org (click on "application" below) Candidates must be citizens of Delaware, residents of the Seaford School District and shall be qualified to vote at a school election in the Seaford School District at the time of such election or appointment. Candidates may be interviewed by the Board. Selection shall be by majority vote of the board.
The Board of Education Reorganizational Meeting schedule for July 8, 2019 will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. This is a time change from the regularly scheduled start time of 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Board room at the District Office with the public session being held first.
Congratulations to Central Elementary School's Laura Burke who was named the 2019-20 District Teacher of the Year. Laura will now move onto the state-level Teacher of the Year competition. The winner will be announced in October.
