SHS Class of 2020 Spring Athletes

The closure of schools due to COVID-19 cost our athletes their spring season. We will honor our senior spring athletes over the next few weeks by posting their pictures and sharing their words about what it meant to them to be a Blue Jay!

Date Changes for SSD Board of Education Meetings

Due to the closure of schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year the Seaford Board of Education is changing dates of Board meetings from the original schedule published in July of 2019 and establishing July and August Meeting dates.

Correction to the 2020-21 School Calendar

Attached is the corrected school calendar for the 2020-21 school year. This calendar reflects what was approved by the SSD Board of Education on March 16, 2020. The original calendar distributed to you had January 15, 2021 as a PD Day which is incorrect. January 15, 2021 is a regular school day. An error was made when we went from the traditional calendar with each day to the summary we use in agendas and for public use. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Teacher Appreciation Week

May 4th through May 8th is National Teacher Appreciation Week. We appreciate our teachers everyday, but every year the first full week of May is the "official" week of appreciation for teachers. There has never been a year where teachers deserve this week of appreciation more than this year. The countless hours, teaching from a distance, office hours at odd hours have all become a part of the "normal" school day. The Seaford School District thanks all of its teachers for the outstanding job they do and know you are appreciated more than words could describe.
We encourage everyone to reach out to their teachers this week and let them know how much you appreciate everything he or she does for you and for the Nest.

Change to the Meal Delivery Program

Starting Monday May 4th, the Seaford School District will begin serving meals at our sites on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays the food sites will be closed. The times and locations will stay the same as previous weeks. Students will receive lunch and breakfast meals for two days.

Message in Response to Governor Carney Closing Schools for the Remainder of 2019-20 School Year

Today Governor Carney announced that students will not be returning to school on May 18th. Due to the continuing COVID-19 health crisis, school buildings will remain closed through the end of this school year. Our students will continue to engage in remote learning opportunities throughout the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. The Seaford School District’s end date for seniors who have completed all requirements for graduation is June 4th. Students in Pre-K through 11th grade will have a last day of June 12th. Seaford High School is in the midst of conducting a graduation survey in order to make the best decision for our Class of 2020 while keeping everyone as safe as possible.

The Seaford school District will continue to work with The Delaware Department of Education and stakeholders from across the state to collaboratively plan for the remainder of this school year.
We will continue to communicate updates through our district and school websites, social media and all calls as we have information to share with you. Please continue to practice social distancing and following the CDC’s guidelines of best practices in order to be as safe and healthy as possible.
