In response to Delaware Senate Bill 106, the Seaford School District has adopted a new policy governing student cell phone use during the school day. The legislation requires each school district and charter school to develop a policy with input from both educators and students.

As part of this process, district and school administrators met with student groups and staff to gather feedback before finalizing the policy.

In summary, elementary school students are not permitted to use cell phones during the school day. At the secondary level, students may have access to their phones during designated times of the day. However, cell phone use is not permitted during instructional time unless authorized by a staff member or allowed under an approved exemption.

During instructional time, cell phones must be powered off or set to silent mode and stored out of sight during restricted times.
